End weaving continues

First, a warning. The Shingrix vaccine is serious business. I want to believe I would be much farther (Side note: I like the word farther. I think it is underused. I’m going to use it here even though it seems to be a bit contested in usage.) along in my end weaving if it had not been for the three days spent recovering from the vaccine. By all means, get it but plan ahead.

I have been weaving ends in a sort of lackluster, meandering, never to be finished sort of way. I made plans to weave all of the motifs in a column each day so I feel less intimidated but that quickly became boring. Then I decided to weave all of one color, but that’s limiting because the dark colors are so hard to see to weave without bright light, so my finely laid plan became a mishmash of weaving whatever I can see in the given light. Last night I started weaving ends across the long rows. I did two of them. I’m not sure what weaving plan I will follow today, but I will be weaving. It would help immensely if there were no other projects calling and doom scrolling to do.

As I work, I have been thinking about the border. Part of me really thinks just a few rows of singles will finish it off nicely. Part of me wants to do a side to side border that will attach as it goes, but I would have to worry about the weird open space between some of the motifs. What if a side to side border attached in a strange, floppy way? I think I am going to have to run a row of singles around the whole thing and chain between any open spaces, running another row of singles over the chains to finish them off. I don’t know. Perhaps fortunately I have more ends to weave, so I can keep thinking about it and not actually have to decide yet.

I am quite pleased with the flatness I created with the edge motifs, though! Such perfect flatness! A more border ready edge has never been seen! Go me!

I guess I’m off to weave ends now. It feels like a day to binge Star Trek Voyager, weave ends, and wait impatiently for the rains to come. At least it’s cloudy today and that brings me joy.
