Pattern release for the striped shawl next Thursday! I’m still weaving ends on the striped wrap, but the pattern is written up, and the diagrams are done. I just need to finish weaving the stupid ends and then I can get some pictures that don’t look half finished to add to the pattern.
I am also working on the name for this wrap. Part of me really wants to call it The Deconstructed Banana because now I cannot see it as anything but that. But it’s only going to look that way if someone uses exactly these colors to create their own shawl. It could so easily become a deconstructed peach, cherry, apple, kumquat, calico cat, night sky, random Tuesday breakfast, pretty dish you found at the thrift store, what have you. I think it needs a better name, so I will be thinking about that in the next week. I am forcing myself to weave 30 ends a day, so everything should be ready to go for next Thursday’s update post.
I still have Hannah’s shawl on hook, and I am making a swatch for a new sweater for Adia. Those are going to be on hold for a minute, though, because I want to make the Critter Stitch Mushroom Guy that’s going around social media right now for Dave for Valentine’s Day. Mushroom Guy Critter Stitch Crochet Pattern / Amigurumi – Etsy I made a mushroom for Dave years ago from Lalylala Crochet Pattern . Paul the Toadstool – Lalylala Amigurumi that he really likes, so it’s time for him to have another little mushroom friend. Mind you, I hate doing amigurumi because it hurts my hands and I never feel like I put them together well, yet here we are. The things we do for the ones we love, I guess. Yarn for that one should come later this week, though its progress seems to be halted by snow right now.
The other project that I’m starting soon is a wrap for my mother who needs something warm to put around her shoulders during meetings of one of her groups. She picked yarn, which has arrived, so, as soon as I get the damn ends woven, I can start that. It’s going to be a long isosceles triangle in a Buds on Stems stitch pattern. I’m torn about the border, though. I still need to think about that, but fortunately (sarcasm intended) I have time to think while I weave all of those ends.
